So, how is everyone feeling about the new format by now? I am starting to like it a lot, now that summer is here. My only problem with it, is when people
meet in the middle of nowhere or in a park in the middle of the day. I do like the outside scenes if they are not contrived. The color and sound are much
better than at first. I think the sets are a bit confusing at times. Sometimes it is hard to tell where the heck they are. Of course I still prefer the old,
old way, when Reva had her house and that era, but I am getting used to the new look. I think they just need to have reasons to be in certain places and not
just have the actors meeting on the side of the road! I have never seen anyone sitting on a guardrail reading a book, for heaven's sake. Can't they
meet at a Starbuck's or at a McDonalds? That would be more realistic.

Yah - I'm pretty much were you are in this. It's getting better and I'm enjoying the different scenery, etc....but agree about the meeting out in
the middle of nowhere. I know these rich people don't do that much walking - it seems like they are always walking out in the middle of
nowhere.......that's a little much to handle. And whoever it was that mentioned it seems like everything is so small - the houses, the rooms, the nail
place....I agree. It shows this huge house of Cassie's from the outside, which, by the way is much different than they were first showing and I really
love this new brick house they show - but the rooms are small in it.....and didn't Gus build that house new for Harley? Then why does it look old on the
outside? But - I know we have to overlook some of that stuff because the writers are not paying attention to details like we are.

Agreed. Now that they have stopped with the extreme close-ups (those were scary) and the loud music that kept us from hearing the dialogue, I am really
enjoying it. Most of the time, I am OK with the outdoor scenes, the only time it was really weird was when Mallet was giving that speech in the middle of that
field...they never really justified why they were there. (That I remember)
I have been enjoying the show a lot and have really stopped noticing the "new" look so much. I am back into the story! |

I haven't been watching. I'm glad to hear the format seems better. My real problem is with the storylines and judging by the recaps that I read
everyday, nothing I'm interested in is really happening right now.
I read the recaps to decide if I want to watch online. I might watch yesterday's and today's episodes because they sound pretty good.

I also have noticed that everything is sooooo much better. I too am into the story lines and haven't been caught up in the new format. It is better sound,
picture, sets, everything is so much better. I feel like I am watching my old show again. I am glad that I stuck it out with all the new changes. Even losing
some major players don't even feel so tramatic anymore. I'm loving the story going on with Bill, Lizzy, Ava and Remy right now. Go GL!!!!

I can't get used to the new format. For me, it's annoying - things don't make sense to me.
Thankfully, the storylines are strong enough that I'll keep watching.

The Spaulding mansion looks great on the outside but everything takes place in the "all purpose" study. I'm still not caring for all the music without much dialogue. It doesn't take much conversation to move a story along. What's with everyone walking to the wedding down the long drive way? Is no one able to drive in the yard? That nail place is ridiculous. My nail place is busier that the local Walmart during the summer! LOL. rose |

Even though it has improved somewhat, I still don't like the new format; and the audio is still horrible. I wonder if they will ever fix things.

I am getting used to the new look of things as well. Some of the camera work does need "fixed" still. Sometimes I notice that when a character is
speaking the cameraman is focused on the non-speaking character. I'm not sure if this is on purpose or not. I figure it could be to catch the non-speaking
character's reaction to what's being said. Does anyone have any ideas on this one??
I do like the outside shots as well some of the places are really pretty. I'm with cloudsky on the audio as it is still horrible. I have to turn it up really loud to hear it. LOL, my family thinks I'm going deaf but I told them not so!! The hardest thing for me to get past is Cross Creek. The old set was just so much better (IMO) and looked more like a cabin should look. I am so glad they kept the mantel though and that they have shown it on camera a few times. I still think Josh made a mistake moving it to Springfield, cause it lost its "magic" when he did that.

I watched GL today (as my Mom called to ask me to tape it for her). I haven't been watching in quite some time, and this was actually only the second time
I've watched since the new outdoor format. I really enjoyed the show today. Really good scenes with the wedding. I was confused and had to have my mom
fill me in on what was going on, though. I have to say, though, I just can't help watching without feeling very sad. I still love many of the actors, but
it just isn't GL to me anymore. Everything is different. I know time marches on, and I'm not someone who can't accept change. It just isn't
anything at all like GL. And, that's what made me stop watching. I will tune in from time to time, but not often. I miss my old GL. The outdoor format
was gorgeous for the wedding, and I like seeing scenery, but I don't think I'd like it all the time.

I think there have been some definite improvements. I've always liked the outdoor scenes, and they're getting better. The only
thing I still object to is the music. It's getting better, but sometimes, it's still too overpowering. And, I hated the dopey stuff they were playing
during Wednesday's wedding preparations. I had to mute it, it was so bad.
I have wonder how they're going to make out with the outdoor scenes come wintertime. I'm sure they'll be pretty, but I imagine they'll also be pretty darned cold. |

Jamie, I think that it would be a shock to come in after not watching for so long! Many of us who have kept watching are more used to it...it isn't quite
so abrupt!

E,
It was kinda shocking. I watched a little bit one day a few weeks ago - nothing special happening - I think it was the first day that Daisy saw G (Grady?) and the day Cyrus saw him the first time. I still have a vague idea of what's happening on the show (because of this board!), but I don't know every detail. It was weird to tune in to see Reva and Olivia seeming to get along? It's just very different. Jamie |
