A Private in the Cooper Army.

Thursday, December 04 2008
Mallet brings Eleni to town, Rafe encourages Frank to date Natalia and Olivia makes a deal with Decker.

Mallet and Marina are still cleaning up their house from Thanksgiving. She wonders why everyone gets so weird and dramatic during the holidays. She suggests that people always say things they can't remember the next day. He tells her to look in the fridge. She finds a bouquet of flowers with a bride and groom on top. She smiles as he lifts her up and kisses her.

Frank goes to see Rafe at the prison. He informs him that he's gotten a job for him in the library as long as he works on his GED. Rafe is thrilled. Frank tells him how worried he is about Natalia. Rafe suddenly tells Frank that he's a good guy and he would be good for his mother. He wants her to be happy and have a life; she really needs somebody. "Oh man... Natalia's just uh..." Frank blurts out. Rafe starts to laugh. He tells him that he's only seen that look on Frank's face on his father. Frank admits that he worries about Natalia all the time. Rafe says he should go after her then.

In her room, Natalia prays to God for forgiveness. She wanted too much and lost what she was given. She asks God to watch after her baby.

Matt and his daughter drink V8 on the porch when Buzz comes out to talk to them. Matt tells them that he's glad Bill is doing better. After they walk off, Natalia walks down the stairs and rambles about her busy schedule. Buzz dries her tears and asks her what's wrong. They discuss the money she lost and he offers to float the rent for awhile. She refuses. He encourages her to try more risks and be true to her dreams. She runs upstairs to get her purse.

Mallet and Marina arrive outside of the boarding house. They talk about marriage. Natalia begins down the stairs, spot them and goes back up. Marina tells Mallet how natural their relationship has developed. She can't wait to be his wife; she just wanted to make sure that he was sure. They tell each other how much they love each other. After they kiss, she runs off and Natalia comes down the stairs, awkwardly saying hello before walking off. He gets on the phone. "I just left her and she doesn't suspect a thing," he says.

Olivia shows up in Decker's room and tells him that she wants him to give Natalia her money back. He doesn't babysit investors, he claims. She tells him Natalia's story and how poor she is and tries to reason with him. She suggests that Galaxy should project an image of compassion, not of being merciless. Olivia runs out of breath. Decker promises to give this some thought. She walks down the hall and nearly collapses.

Natalia goes over to the station to tell Frank that she needs some security guards for an event Olivia is throwing. He tells her that he got Rafe a job at the library. She's thrilled and gives him a hug. They catch up on Rafe and Frank tells her how he worries about her. When he begins talking about Marina, she stops him and congratulates him. He's confused. She tells him that Mallet and Marina are getting married. He's shocked. She apologizes. Olivia calls and asks Natalia to come and get her before Decker finds her in the hallway.

Natalia rushes over to The Beacon, finds Olivia and helps her up. Through his door, Decker listens to them bickering. Natalia takes her boss to Cedars. Olivia apologizes for not warning her more about the investment. Natalia tries to reassure her but Olivia gets angry that she never gets angry. Nat tells her to focus on herself and her kids. Olivia suddenly remembers that she is supposed to be at a talent show for Emma. Nat offers to stand in for her and leaves, promising that things will be okay.

Buzz comes into Olivia's room at Cedars to visit. He sits by her side as she cries. She tells him that she had to send Natalia to substitute for her. "I just want to feel whole again," she cries. He tells her that she's lucky to have someone to help her and offers her a hug. She falls asleep. Later, she opens her eyes and Decker is standing beside her. He tells her that he knows all about her illness. He offers to return Natalia's investment if she will resign and publicly apologize for her deception. He needs the vibrant woman she used to be, not who she is now. "Fine. Just give her money back," she says.

Rafe calls his mother and tells her how great Frank is. He encourages her to get over the money and just enjoy herself. After he hangs up, Natalia tells Olivia what a great dancer she is. They talk about Rafe and Natalia admits that missing him hurts less when she is around.

Natalia brings Emma to Olivia at Cedars. They talk about the dance recital and Olivia hints that she has some news too, but won't say more.

At Company, Coop is cleaning glasses and hands Marina some tickets to Greece. The family is planning a trip over there to see Harley. As she looks them over, he tells her that they are going to re-do the house while she is away. She's not happy that they are meddling in her life. She grabs a beer. As she drinks, Frank walks by. She confronts him about the plan to go to Greece and see Harley. She would like to be consulted about these things. "I don't want to be a private in the Cooper army," she says. Suddenly, she tells him she loves him and walks off. Frank is confused. After Marina leaves, Frank asks Coop what's going on. Coop doesn't know. Frank is sure that Mallet and Marina are trying to elope and he's not going to let it happen. He becomes excited, sure that his daughter must want a big, fancy wedding. Coop worries, but Frank begins to shout in excitement.

Mallet sneaks Eleni into the house. She thanks him for bringing him there, though she's not crazy that he's living with her daughter. "You're not a terrible choice for my daughter," she says, promising to keep an open mind. He tells her about what's been going on in Marina's life. She already knows but is still worried about how he became involved with her daughter. When she demands to know how he feels about Marina, he becomes uncomfortable. Sitting down, he explains that he doesn't just love her, he likes her as well and she is a good cop, compassionate, kind, funny and unique. He loved Dinah and Harley, but both of those relationships were constant drama and that can't last. His love with Marina is solid like their house.

Later, Marina walks in and asks Mallet how much he loves her. She begins talking about Coop's surprise when she notices a bag on the floor. Her mother pops up. They run to each other and giggle. Marina stops Mallet before he can mention the wedding so she can take her mother out to show her the yard. After that, she shows her around the house and up to her room. Marina runs down to Mallet and tells him that her family are getting too involved and she wants to keep things simple and strictly between them. She needs one thing in her life that every Cooper doesn't get the chance to weigh in on.
